The 3-day 8th ECR Asia Conference 2005., which attracted over 80 prominent speakers addressing the theme, "Adding Magic to the Supply Chain", was a great success on every front. The Conference was attended by over 800 international delegates comprising leading players from a wide spectrum of the business community, spanning manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, logistics service providers, public organizations and government bureaux in 17 countries. Press coverage of the event was impressive - the conference was featured extensively in prime local and regional business and technology media.

Most importantly, the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants have shown that the conference has achieved its aim of being a regional forum for the exchange of valuable information and real-world experience on how business efficiency can be optimized by the effective deployment of enabling technologies and best practices in supply chain management.

About The 8th ECR Asia Conference (26-29 September 2005)
In today's economy, businesses face these expectations from ever more demanding customers. But how can customer satisfaction be ensured and sustained? The key to getting Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) is Efficient Supply Chain Management, enabling all stakeholders in The Supply Chain to ensure adequate stocks and timely deliveries yet maintain reduced inventories.

The term Supply Chain Management was barely known two decades ago, yet today it has evolved to being recognized as critical to business success. This entails not only seizing opportunities, selecting the right business partners, and developing effective forms of cooperation with them, but the application of best practices and the use of enabling technologies to ensure that goods and services reach the customer exactly as and when they are required. Evolving technologies such as Electronic Product Code (EPC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Global Data Synchronisation (GDS) increase the visibility of the supply chain and help make the underlying business processes more efficient.

The 8th Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) Asia Conference, organised by ECR Hong Kong (under the auspices of the GS1 Hong Kong), is designed to help Asian businesses achieve these seemingly magical results and optimise their Supply Chain Management, with the aid of best practices derived from the experience of visionary pioneering companies, supported by global standards and innovative technology.
